A long time ago in a city neither of them lived in, a handsome young film director, chanced upon a beautiful young designer and cast her in the commercial he was directing. They fell in love on set, and seven years later in truly one of the most breathtaking weddings we have ever laid eyes upon, we were welcomed into their love story when Iulia walked down the aisle in our Josee dress.
Iulia and Anton pledged themselves to one another in the stunning Mogosoaia Palace Gardens, in Bucharest, Romania. On a day a bride truly keeps everything crossed for, the sun cascaded from the sky as she walked to him beneath the towering birch trees.
Describing her aesthetic as “a little bit elegant, a little bit wild” the affair was a dazzling blend of detailed precision with a full-fledged set design by friends Mihaela & Dan Hognogiu, buffed with the whimsy and nonchalance of a couple truly in love and ready to party (the wedding program ran til 4am, rounding out with Anton’s rock band!).
White tiffany chairs crowned in babys breath and ribbon, rustic steel buckets offering haphazard bunches of wattle and lavender, and a delightful lemonade stand greeted guests as they arrived for the ceremony. The reception continued the free-spirited vibe with one long serpentine banquet table featuring wicker baskets of overflowing ivy cascading down the length of the table interspersed with wicker nests of church candles adorned in delicate halos of lavender. As the sun went down the reception came to life as a magical circus. The serpentine table was flanked by a big top tent housing the dance floor, a reclining area of stunning vintage furniture, a teepee for the children to play in, an old pinball machine, a hula hooping zone dotted with round white balloons, and a photo booth all beneath a canopy of stars and twinkling fairy lights that criss-crossed the night.
To the marvel of their guests, between the ceremony and reception the pair lifted off for their wedding photos in a giant hot air balloon. The day was captured by the discerning lens of talented duo Rares & Daniela Ion who flawlessly and intuitively anticipated and preserved every single moment of the day for a lifetime of joyous reminisce.
In choosing her gown Iulia was shrewd in remaining true to herself.
“I chose the amazing Josee dress, because it looked so delicate and yet so unique- I knew right away it was the dress for me. I ordered it online and every question I had regarding the dress was answered promptly and helped me take away all doubt. When it arrived it fitted me perfectly, and as I was taking it out of the box, the first thought that came through my mind was: This dress looks like it has to be passed from generation to generation, it looked so atemporal, so perfect for me!”
Pairing her stunning dress back with vintage ballet slippers and a crown of baby’s breath, the bohemian beauty wore next to no make-up, with her hair loose, textured and natural.
Her advice to prospective brides is pragmatic “Remember to enjoy the planning part of the wedding too, that also happens only once and you should make the best of it.”
We hope that you find inspiration and fall in love with Iulia and Anton’s wedding as much as we have. As with every one of our heavenly brides, it was truly an honour to be alongside them on their beautiful wedding day.
