How did you decide on your GLL gown and accessories?
I had seen a photo of the Inca dress on Pinterest once before and fell in love with it, I’d always wanted a dress with long sleeves and a low back and this one was absolutely perfect! I didn’t realise it was a dress that still existed and was available to purchase until I stumbled upon it on the Grace Loves Lace website, so I instantly knew I had to get it! I kept my accessories pretty simple as I had always wanted to wear a flower crown, so the crown along with the dress were my statement pieces.
Describe your look in three words…
Enchanting, romantic & slightly bohemian.
How did he propose?
He had planned in advance this ‘dinner’ to finally meet an aunty I hadn’t met yet, so it was a pretty casual outing so nothing particularly screamed “I’m going to propose tonight” (although I had my suspicions haha). It was raining outside so I could tell he was a bit concerned about it, then as we drove out to his ‘aunty’s’ he had a few stalling tactics saying she was running late etc, and then we were going up this hillside and he mentioned that ‘he remembered there was a nice lookout up here’, so to kill time we stopped. We walked out to the lookout with a view of the city and water, the sun was setting and the rain was just clearing and then I saw on the hillside there was a massive ‘XO’ cut out and lit up with lights shining on it, then I looked over to a teepee hut that had candles all throughout, a fire in the middle, a cute table set up with cheese/crackers/wine, and a cute little cozy bed set up to snuggle up on. At this moment I freaked out and just started laughing hysterically as I knew exactly what was happening, in which he followed on with sharing some beautiful words, having a great little make-out session before getting on one knee :)
What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?
We wanted to create a simply beautiful and magical nature inspired day for both us to enjoy together, and to be able to share alongside all our favourite humans. We just wanted everyone to have fun, to feel the love, eat good food, enjoy the beauty of our nature wedding locations and to dance the night away!
The funniest moments on the day were…
A funny and beautiful moment was watching my little 13 month old niece, who was just starting to walk, toddle and stumble down the isle, such a little cutie she almost certainly stole the lime light of the ceremony!
What was the most stressful part to planning?
I actually really love planning and organising so most of it came pretty naturally to me. However in the last month a few things that were out of our control weren’t going to plan (like our first forest ceremony spot being chopped down completely)! But the forest we ended up with was super beautiful and way more enchanting and magical then our original spot!
Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…
Try not to change your look or body too drastically before the day because you still want to feel like yourself and you want your husband to recognise you. Also, any weight lost will come right back on as soon as you get to your honeymoon haha!
A GLL woman is to you…
Elegant, unique & confident.
Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…
Try to take more moments with just you and your husband on the day – sneak away for a little quick pash here and there, remember its about ‘you two’ and you want to look back and feel like you actually got time together on your special day, and not just off talking to all your relatives all night long!
