Ben + Rachael in the Ziggy

A bohemian style wedding in Byron Bay, featuring our Ziggy gown.

How did you decide on your GLL gown and accessories?

I had to keep in mind that I would be 7 months pregnant when I got married, the girls at my GLL appointment helped me choose out the best dresses for me. I had heaps of options and found it so hard decide because they are all so beautiful. The girls at GLL made it such a special experience and I found my perfect dress.

Describe your look in three words…

Elegant, stylish and contemporary

How did he propose?

We went on a holiday to New York at the beginning of the year. We had most of our holiday planned but he told me there was one day he organized that was a surprise We started the day by going on a horse and cart ride through Central Park which was covered in a fresh layer of snow and then went back to Central Park in the afternoon to go Ice Skating. They clean the ice every few hours so he timed it so we were the last to leave the ice – then got down on one knee (in ice skates!) it was a public holiday in the U.S that day so there was a lot of people watching and cheering. He organized a limo from our hotel to The River Café for dinner in Brooklyn which is under the Brooklyn bridge and has an amazing view over the City. I could not think of a more romantic proposal or perfect day!

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

I wanted it to be true to us. We live close by to our venue and it was important for us to source locally and keep a rustic, fun, down to earth feel to the day. We have always loved Harvest Café so it was an easy decision for us to have it there.

The funniest moments on the day were…

When I jumbled my words at the ceremony and said Ben’s dad name instead of his!

What was the most stressful part to planning?

We were very lucky and worked with some great companies and venues who made everything stress free for us. The only time I got stressed was the week before running around doing last minute things.

Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…

I think the most important thing is not to put too much pressure on yourself, after all the man who is marrying you loves you for who you are. Keep up your regular fitness routine, eat clean and treat yourself as much as possible.

A GLL woman is to you…

Independent and sexy.

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…

Just to have fun! It’s your big day, enjoy every moment.
