GLL: Congratulations on your recent wedding, you looked stunning! Tell us how and why you chose your GLL gown?
Well it’s a funny story actually, I had already purchased a wedding dress for the big day but I contacted GLL to try on a dress for my wedding party – as we were eloping in America we had planned a big party for when we returned to Australia to celebrate with our family and friends that couldn’t be with us on the day. GLL had a concierge in Perth which I attended with my sisters to try on a dress for the party. While I was there Anna the Stylist asked to me try on the Arlo gown for a photo for the GLL Instagram. But as soon as I slipped on the gown I had that real “wedding dress” moment and fell completely in love with it. It was perfect and I knew I had to have it. So Anna worked her magic and managed to get me the gown just in time. It was meant to be.
GLL: So tell us, how did you both meet?
Brent and I actually met at Brent’s 21st Birthday party. My girlfriends had been friends with him for some time and they asked me to come along with them. We were friends for a few years before we started dating. It was just so easy… I think once you have a really good friendship with someone it makes for a great relationship.. It just felt right.
GLL: Was it love at first sight or was it a slow burn kinda situation?
GLL: What first attracted you to your partner?
Brent is a very charismatic guy, he is so easy to get along with and loves to have a good time. He lives life to the fullest but is still really driven and determined and I love that about him.
GLL: And the proposal? How did that go down?
The proposal was amazing…Brent had organized a trip for us to the snow (Thredbo NSW) in August of 2014. We had been there for a few days and I had been asking Brent to get a nice photo with me in the snow as I had never seen the snow before. So one morning he said “let’s go up to the top of the mountain and we can have some lunch at Eagles Nest Restaurant and then I will set up the gopro and we can get a photo together”. So after lunch we went outside where there was no one around just beautiful blue skies and an incredible view over the mountains. Brent set up the gopro with a timer so that we could get a photo together. He came and stood by me as the go pro started taking photos, and then he got down on one knee in the snow and asked me to marry him….. I will never ever forget that feeling! It was the most incredible moment of my life and in the most picturesque location. It didn’t seem real!! He captured the whole proposal on camera. It was extremely romantic and I will treasure that moment forever.
GLL: How did you feel on your day and how did you style your GLL look?
Brent and I eloped in New York City with just a handful of guests. I think eloping made the whole experience so relaxing and enjoyable as I wasn’t thinking about hundreds of guests waiting for me at the aisle. The Arlo gown is so simple and elegant it was so easy to wear. I really wanted that elegant understated look which is exactly what the Arlo gown offers. I styled it with a long lace trim vail, and kept everything very simple and timeless. For the reception I change it up a bit by removing the vail and wearing the stunning GLL Stella leather choker which made it a little bit more fun and gave it a little stylish edge.
GLL: Where did you get inspiration from for your wedding?
I always knew what style wedding I wanted so it was pretty easy for me when planning and making decisions. Luckily for me Brent had the same sort of vision so we really got each other and knew how we wanted the day to feel and look. Most of my inspiration came from Pinterest and Instagram.
GLL: Describe your wedding in 3 words…
Elegant, timeless, surreal.
GLL: What was your most memorable moment?
Oh that one is easy, definitely when Brent and I exchanged vows. We wrote our own vows which made it so special and in that moment it felt like the rest of the world didn’t exist…. it was just Brent and I standing there holding hands, promising to spend the rest of our lives together. I didn’t take my eye off his…it was pretty amazing.
GLL: What was your wedding song / playlist?
We had an acoustic signing for our ceremony. I walked down the aisle to A Thousands Years by Christina Perri and then he sung Forever by Ben Harper as the celebrant announced us Husband and Wife.
GLL: And where are you honeymooning?
After our wedding in New York City we flew to Cancun Mexico and then spent some time in Las Vegas.
GLL: What did you find the easiest and hardest thing about planning a wedding?
The hardest decision we had to make regarding the wedding was deciding to elope. Although it proved to be a great decision in the end it wasn’t easy telling my close friends and my family. We did throw a big wedding party when we returned though which was great as we still got to celebrate with everyone. I would have to say the easiest decision for us was deciding to have Danila as our photographer. As soon as I saw his work I knew that I wanted him, he really captures the most amazing photos and I just loved his style. It was important to us to get a photographer who would also capture the amazing backdrops and surroundings that New York City has to offer and I think he did such an incredible job of that.
GLL: Any top tips or advice you can give fellow GLL brides (beauty, health & wellness, planning etc)?
My tip would be to try not to be influenced by everyone’s opinion because it can become very overwhelming, your wedding day should be exactly how YOU want it and the way you have always imagined it. Enjoy every last moment of the day and have fun….it truly can be the best day of your life.
GLL: Describe your GLL experience…
My GLL experience was amazing! I managed to get an appointment with the GLL concierge in Perth. I went with my two sisters Jess & Jordaan and we were greeted by Anna who was my Stylist for the appointment. She handed us champagne and made us feel so welcome. It was so much fun trying on the all the amazing gowns, I wouldn’t have picked out the Arlo gown but Anna suggested I try it on and I am so glad she did. It really is a stunning dress and feels amazing to wear. Anna really went out of her way to get me the Arlo gown in time for our New York wedding and I will be forever grateful for that.
GLL: What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage to me and a partnership, a lifelong commitment you make to the love of your life and your best friend, a commitment to respect and love each other. Marriage means trusting, giving, compromise, sharing and growing together, Marriage means Unconditional love.
