Cory + Rebecca in the INCA

A breathtaking elopement at Glacier Point, Yosemite featuring our iconic Inca gown.

How did you decide on your GLL gown and accessories?

I have been in love with the Inca gown for years after finding you guys on Instagram and always knew it would be my gown one day.  I wanted something timeless and well-made. I love that GLL uses authentic lace and each gown is made by hand.

Describe your look in three words:

Bohemian, Natural & Timeless.

How did he propose?

He proposed in our favorite park uptown called Romare Bearden Park with my family hiding waiting to surprise me afterward. He cut out brown paper bags which spelled “marry me” with candles inside. He proposed 2 days before he left for his longest rotation of physical therapy school in Chicago.

What was your goal for your wedding/ what was the most important aspect to you?

The goal was to make it as intimate and personable as possible while making memories to last us a lifetime. We wanted to do something spontaneous and different. We put a lot of time and effort into finding a photographer we could bond with because our wedding photographs were really important to us. Our photographer helped capture so many precious moments through her artistic style. We will forever cherish these photographs.

The funniest moments one the day were…

One of the funniest moments was when Cory and I got left at our own wedding reception! Also, my sister still laughs about how she barely got through reading an excerpt from “The Velveteen Rabbit” because she was crying so much during the ceremony.  There were several spectators watching our ceremony who cheered, clapped, and cried like they actually knew us!  Also, I went to the bathroom before the ceremony, and a woman asked to take a picture of me in my dress because she wanted her son to get married and hopefully that would convince him to finally get a girlfriend and propose! She loved my dress!

What was the most stressful part to planning?

The most stressful part was never having been to Glacier Point until the actual ceremony and having to plan things from all the way in North Carolina. I’m glad we did things spontaneously though.  The first time I even saw Glacier Point was the day of the wedding when I was walking down the aisle. I will never forget that moment. It made the whole experience more memorable and special.

Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share..

Since I did my own makeup and hair, I watched what seemed like thousands of youtube videos until I found a makeup artist who I loved. I practiced my look several times beforehand to make sure that I was happy with it before that day.. this included trying on the dress, jewellery, flower crown, etc at least twice before the ceremony. As far as fitness goes, I am a runner so I didn’t try to do any crazy diets. I maintained my health, weight, and fitness level so I didn’t have to worry about any drastic weight loss and hence did not have to worry about alterations to my dress. This wedding was about being comfortable in my own skin and embracing who I am.

A GLL woman is to you..

A GLL woman to me is a unique bride who takes the unconventional approach setting trends without even trying by embracing every aspect of who she is.

Any last advice words of wisdom that you can share…

My biggest advice is not to forget about what your wedding day is actually about. It’s about you and your future husband and no one else, which is why we decided to elope. It’s important not to get caught up in what everyone else wants. It’s about you and your soon to be spouse. Do what is going to make YOU happy!
