What is it you loved about your GLL gown?

EVERYTHING! The Verdelle 2.0 was just perfect for me; something flattering but not too fitted, a gorgeous low back and front slit, as well as those stunning wings in the most intricately patterned lace!

Did you go to a GLL showroom or purchase your gown online? Tell us about this experience.

I began following GLL on Instagram years ago and always dreamed of being a GLL Bride, but there was no UK-based showroom.  I was so in love with all of the gowns that I had no idea which one I would have chosen had I had to order online. Then I remember seeing their announcement that they were opening a London showroom, just at the time I was about to start dress shopping and I just knew it was meant to me. My mother and I travelled to London for the day for my appointment and were so amazed by the beauty of the showroom! Stefania was so helpful in making us feel comfortable (did someone say champagne?) I tried a few dresses but the Verdelle 2.0 was the one I had my eye on. I remember pulling back the curtain and seeing my mum’s teary eyes. There was no doubt about it being ‘The One’ for me.

Describe your wedding day look…

We chose our venue, Villa Podernovo, based on its rustic yet elegant style. I knew I wanted my look on the day to reflect this so I teamed by Verdelle 2.0 dress with a flower crown of white roses and olive leaves, along with some yellow suede sling backs from Topshop for a pop of colour. Our bridesmaids rocked white, intricate dresses too, but chose their own style.

How did he propose?

Daniel proposed at the Taj Mahal during a three month trip to India in March 2014. He had hidden the ring in a sock in his backpack the whole time! We had woken up at 5am to get to the Taj Mahal for sunrise but Amiee soon woke up when Daniel turned to her with an engagement ring. We celebrated by calling family back home and stuffing our faces with Indian food.

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

To have a relaxed, intimate celebration of our love for each other with the people who matter most. We wanted to create special memories with our close family and friends and so there were lots of fun times in the days leading up to the wedding, splashing in the pool and enjoying pizza together. It was also important to us that the ceremony was personal so we wrote our own vows, thinking carefully about what we admire most about each other.

The funniest moments on the day were…

Two of the bridesmaids snatching at the bride’s bouquet and then suddenly laughing as they realised who was pulling the other end.

Everyone asking Daniel, “Are you sure about the length of those trousers?” They soon joined in by rolling theirs up on the dance floor later on!

Amiee’s cousin reading A Lovely Love Story by Edward Monkton during the ceremony. The guests we confused as to why there was an odd story about two dinosaurs falling in love but it was weird and wonderful like us, so they laughed along.

What was the most stressful part to planning?

Packing to leave for Italy and the worries that the bags would get lost on our connecting flight. Two of the wedding party lost their baggage. The bridesmaid got hers the next day but the best man had no suit in time… so the groomsmen had to put something together from their suitcases!

A GLL woman is to you…

Relaxed, Unique and Confident. I often worry about the littlest of things but as soon as I put my GLL gown I felt so relaxed and confident, ready to take on the world!

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…

Take time to stand back together on the big day and take it all in. Marvell at everything you have created and the people who are there to celebrate with you both. We had a sweetheart table during the wedding breakfast, where just the two of us could sit back and enjoy some delicious Italian food whilst sharing a special moment together.
