Daniel + Sophia in the Francis

A romantic English garden wedding, featuring our one-of-a-kind Francis gown.

GLL: Congratulations on your recent wedding, you looked stunning! Tell us how and why you chose your GLL gown?

I loved all the GLL gowns and kept looking online. I very nearly ordered Hollie but was hesitant at ordering a dress for my big day without trying It on first. I had been to a few bridal shops and tried on all the classic weddingy structured dresses. Nothing wowed me. All very pretty but they just didn’t feel very me? Then… GLL announced a London trunk show!!! I couldn’t believe my luck. I managed to register and book an appointment in Clerkenwell. So when the day came I headed into London Town with my best friend a lovely dad. When we arrived a gorgeous Aussie lady asked me to start with my best 3 dresses. I was so sure I would leave there with Hollie or possibly Tara. So I told her those 2 and whichever 3rd dress she thought. She looked me up and down and said “Francis”! I was given Francis to try on first… I was thinking to myself this is nothing like Hollie or Tara but il give it a go. The showroom was really busy and buzzing with lots of excited brides to be trying on dresses. There were no mirrors in the actual dressing room so I was unsure how Francis looked on me until I stepped out. When I did, the room went a bit quiet… I thought, this is either really good or awful! I could see my dads face and a little tear. I stepped in front of the mirror and was blown away! This was my dress. No doubt about it! I think I said I didn’t need to try anything else on, then one of the girls reminded me they had come all the way from Aus so I should probably still take advantage of being able to play dress up. I tried on Hollie next… Very pretty but not the same wow I had with Francis. I tried on quite a few more dresses and two pieces but all I could think about was putting Francis on again! I also fell in love with the Gabriela veil. It really complimented Francis. What an incredibly special day that was :)

GLL: So tell us, how did you both meet?

We lived a stones throw away from each other and met on a night out with friends. We had instant chemistry, and had so much in common. We were pretty much hooked on each other from that moment on!

GLL: Was it love at first sight or was it a slow burn kinda situation?

Definitely love at first sight ;)

GLL: What first attracted you to your partner?

He was different… he kept my attention. I could see he was a very creative, passionate, interesting person and I love that.

GLL: And the proposal? How did that go down?

We spent 5 months together working in Spain. We would often head to this quiet hidden beach we found for a BBQ and chill to get away from the crowds. So I was totally unsuspecting when Dan got down on one knee and popped the question. It was just the two of us and it was perfect. We partied the night away with friends to celebrate.

GLL: How did you feel on your day and how did you style your GLL look?

I felt super excited and a little nervous. I couldn’t wait to get my dress on and wear it for real… Not just a sneaky try on while Dan was out of the house! I wore stoney nude heels that laced up my leg a little. I liked the relaxed contrast with my dress, plus they were super comfy! I also wore a flower crown and put waves in my hair.

GLL: Where did you get inspiration from for your wedding?

We knew we didn’t want anything to matchy matchy. Just relaxed and fun. Nothing stuffy or too formal. And lots of romantic bohemian touches. Our venue inspired us most as it lends itself to that style so well.

GLL: Describe your wedding in 3 words…

Dreamy, fun, happy.

GLL: What was your most memorable moment?

Walking arm in arm across the bridge with my dad.

GLL: What was your wedding song / playlist?

A very talented friend of ours sang Angels by the XX as I walked down the aisle. We had Luther Vandross Amazing as our first dance.

GLL: And where are you honeymooning?

We spent 2 amazing weeks in a private pool villa in Krabi Thailand.

GLL: What did you find the easiest and hardest thing about planning a wedding?

Easiest… Finding THE dress! Hardest… Organising in general isn’t our strong point!

GLL: Any top tips or advice you can give fellow GLL brides (beauty, health & wellness, planning etc)?

Just enjoy it. Even the stressful bits. If you’re wearing a GLL gown who cares about anything else!

GLL: Describe your GLL experience…

Getting to choose my dress with my dad at your London trunk show will always be one of my most treasured memories. Amazing experience!

GLL: What does marriage mean to you?

Spending the rest of your life by the side of the one you truly love. Bringing the best out in them and them bringing the best out in you. Standing strong together through everything life has planned for us. How exciting :)
