Dave + Pia in the Soho

A romantic and intimate Perth wedding, featuring our Soho gown.

How did you decide on your GLL gown and accessories?

When the Blanc collection was released I fell in love with the SOHO immediately and as luck would have it, the GLL concierge came to Perth a few months before our wedding. It’s the only wedding dress I tried on throughout the whole process.

Describe your look in three words

Modern, classic, romantic.

How did he propose?

Amongst the tree in the beautiful Daintree Rainforest.

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

We really wanted to inject as much of ourselves into the day that we could and we are so glad that we did. We wrote our own vows, had our daughter’s write a reading and had a family friend perform the ceremony. We were married in a little hut that Dave and his step dad built and my bestie and I styled. Dave sang my entrance song and his mum sang our exit song. We wrote and sang our wedding speech (Dave is a singer and musician, I am most certainly not!) and had some very talented friends make a grazing table and desserts, and play in the band for us.

The funniest moments on the day were

Instead of having a wedding ring, I got a tattoo which was done an hour or so before our ceremony. We wanted to give our parents the news that we were getting married before the rest of our guests founds out but there were delays on the freeway so Dave’s mum was late getting to the apartments where we were getting ready. This meant we had to get her to meet us at the tattoo parlour and break the news to her there instead. She later told us that she thought we might have lost the plot and wanted to get matching fake tattoos.

What was the most stressful part to planning?

We were really glad we chose to have a surprise wedding but it was tricky keeping it a secret! Sometimes you just wanted to share the excitement and stresses.

Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share

Having a wedding after a month of Christmas feasting and drinking was a bold move, lucky the Soho is a forgiving dress!

Has a free-thinking mind, a fierce heart, and an adventurous soul.

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share

When you’re planning your day, think of the things that are most important to you both and invest your time and money accordingly. It’s easy to get distracted by all the shiny pretty things.
