How did you meet / How did it all begin?

We met 3 and a half years ago. What started as our very first online dating experience (which was supposed to be a simple coffee catch-up) turned into a night full of laughter, clumsiness, and a midnight ferry ride. We both knew quite early on that we had found within each other the person we wanted to spend forever with.

What was your first date? As above.

Tell us a little bit about your engagement story?

That was a special day… The date itself was a special day of its own being Dom’s belated mother’s birthday. It was on a Friday and he had planned a beautiful dinner at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant. When we arrived home our dog greeted us at the door, in a collar and bowtie. Attached to his collar was a little note saying “marry my daddy” by the time I processed what was actually happening I turned around and Dom was on his knee with the most beautiful ring. The next thing I knew my parents and sister were at the door with the champagne (they had been hiding in the bushes the whole time!) I was completely clueless about the whole thing haha! To have the proposal in our first home together with my family there was just amazing.

What first attracted you to your partner?

Definitely his eyes! (I was a little envious at the same time, why do boys always get the longer eyelashes?!)

Flowers (style / company name):

Bower Botanicals – Kellie from Bower Botanicals is just amazing. The love and care she puts into her work is like no other. I have always loved colour so that’s exactly what I asked for! A mixture of bright flowers with wild greenery.

Where did you get inspiration from for your wedding?

I have a creative background, so really enjoyed the DIY aspect of our wedding. The theme was a mixture of moroccan and bohemian concepts using lots of colour and brass. I believe your wedding should reflect both you as a person and as a couple, so we just went with what we love! I also took some inspiration from online, Pinterest in particular.

What was your wedding song / playlist:

I walked down the aisle to ‘How long will I love you’ by Ellie Goulding, and as we signed our registry ‘Latch’ by Boyce Avenue played. The ceremony concluded with a lot of confetti and the song ‘This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)’ by Natalie Cole. At the reception we were lucky to have Michael Eotvos sing and play for us all afternoon/night. He is a one man band and boy is he talented! Our first Dance was ‘Like I’m Gonna Lose You’ by Meghan Trainor and from that point on you couldn’t get people OFF the dance floor!

Honeymoon details:

We did a big Europe trip last year so decided to keep it low key. Following on from the wedding we spent a beautiful week in Byron Bay. Eating, relaxing & exploring the surrounds!

What was your most memorable moment?

I can’t decide on one so I will tell you all three! The first would have to be peering outside of the house to watch the Magic Bus come rolling down the hill, knowing that in that bus was all our loved ones together coming to share our special day with us was just the best feeling in the world! The second moment was walking arm in arm down that aisle with my beautiful parents and catching site of my amazing (now husband) Dominic. So much happiness and love in one small space, I couldn’t stop smiling! Last but not least was the first dance that my beautiful sister Lauren choreographed for Dom & I. We danced to ‘Like I’m gonna lose you – Meghan Trainor’ and it was so much fun! Doing lifts and twirls is not advisable after a few champagnes but we gave it a good go haha.

What is your tip of advice for future brides?

To keep calm and enjoy the day! Everyone warned me how quickly the day would go by so I made every effort to ensure that I took it all in and appreciated every moment. I’m glad I did as it was the most magical day of my life.

How did you find Grace Loves Lace?

I found Grace Loves Lace on Instagram quite some time ago. I have always kept them locked away in my memory for that special day!

How did you choose your GLL dress?

After selecting about 6 dresses to try on at my appointment (with the lovely Bec!) we narrowed it down quite quickly. I loved quite a few of the dresses however as soon as I put the Kate dress on we all knew that it was the one for me. Everyone went silent, but in a good way haha.

Venus Anklets – GLL

Aelan Head Tie – GLL

Shoes – Mollini

What did your partner wear?
