GLL: Congratulations on your recent wedding, you looked stunning! Tell us how and why you chose your GLL gown?
Aww thank you so much! I fell in love with GLL when my older sister chose it for her gown and for her bridesmaid dresses. I even knew back then I wanted to wear the Colette veil on my special day. The gowns are so unique and are far from the traditional style gown, which I love. As soon as I had the Ziggy gown on, I just knew it was the one. I fell in love with the detailed lace, the flirty sleeves and it just suited my body shape perfectly. It was definitely for me!
GLL: So tell us, how did you both meet?
We have a few mutual friends so we always kind of knew of each other. I remember having a crush on him when I was in high school. It wasn’t anything until almost four years ago, he was back from living in London and I invited him to an Australia Day party I was hosting. That night I stole a kiss and the following day he stole my number out of our friend’s phone. When he first texted me, we were messaging back and fourth for hours, all afternoon.
GLL: Was it love at first sight or was it a slow burn kinda situation?
Definitely love at first sight.
GLL: What first attracted you to your partner?
His sense of humour and his great sense of style.
GLL: And the proposal? How did that go down?
Our birthdays are just a few days apart and this year, he all of a sudden wanted to have a joint birthday party which I thought was out of character. I had a feeling he might propose because we had asked EVERYONE to come, haha. However, on the day of the party, he was so calm and collected. He didn’t let on at all, he didn’t tell anyone, (except for my Mum). Once we were all together with our family and friends, he started saying a speech and called me up to be with him. I remember thinking ‘ok, this is SO out of character’. He then popped out the ring and I burst into happy tears!
GLL: How did you feel on your day and how did you style your GLL look?
I was surprisingly calm all morning then started to get really nervous and a little panicky within the hour before walking out. So many emotions running through me that I had never felt before. For the ceremony I styled it with the Colette veil and Maya earrings and for reception, I swapped the veil and earrings for the Chase silk choker and Salita earrings.
GLL: Where did you get inspiration from for your wedding?
Being at the family home in the garden, we wanted to keep things on a natural colour palette and nothing over the top. So champagne and beige for the bridal party and native flowers for boutiques tied in really well. Our Stylist knew exactly what look we were going for and created a beautiful setting.
GLL: Describe your wedding in 3 words…
Magical, heartwarming and loose.
What was your most memorable moment?
There are so many memorable moments but at the ceremony after Harry and I said ‘I do’, a strong gust of wind came through as we kissed. It blew off my veil and all the loose leaves from the trees. I knew in my heart it was my Dad. Letting us know he was there with us and keeping the storm that was suppose to have hit us at bay so we could finish the ceremony. I will never forget that moment.
GLL: What was your wedding song / playlist?
Our aisle song was ‘I Need My Girl’ by The National and for our first dance we had ‘Let My Baby Stay’ by Mac Demarco.
GLL: Tell us about the food, most importantly the cake…
My mama made her famous spring rolls and her friends helped with a few extra nibbles like curry puffs and home-made desserts. We had wood fire pizzas for dinner and Harry’s sister made us our wedding cake of red velvet deliciousness. Eight tiers high!
GLL: And where are you honeymooning?
We spent a week at Noosa and are hoping to go to Europe next year and tie it in with Harry’s 30th.
GLL: What did you find the easiest and hardest thing about planning a wedding?
The hardest part by far is the guest list. We wish we could’ve had everyone there! Our wedding was cocktail style but I can imagine doing a seating plan would be harder. The easiest I found was probably writing my vows. It seemed to come to me naturally.
GLL: Any top tips or advice you can give fellow GLL brides (beauty, health & wellness, planning etc)?
Just savour every moment and enjoy the ride of the whole planning process. Also, try and do a little planning bit by bit. Harry and I would do at least half an hour a night… any more it’d start to do our heads in. Remember too that the most valuable resource at your wedding are people, not the material things.
GLL: Describe your GLL experience…
It was smooth sailing and stress free the whole time which is exactly what you want. It’s such an amazing and exciting time and I felt like Megan and the GLL team really understood that and make you feel so special. With any enquiries I had, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was sorted as soon as possible and/or on track. I want to do it all over again!
GLL: What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage is a formal affirmation of the deep love we share for each other and a chance to celebrate our life long commitment to one another with our family and friends.
