GLL: Congratulations on your recent wedding, you looked stunning! Tell us how and why you chose your GLL gown?
I chose the Harriet because it suited me and my wedding absolutely perfectly. The moment that I saw the Harriet on Instagram when the Blanc Range was revealed I knew that it was the one. I loved the simplicity of it, and how feminine and effortless it is. It was the first wedding dress that I tried on and I just feel instantly in love with it.
GLL: So tell us, how did you both meet?
Jed and I meet at a music festival through mutual friends, in the middle of a huge crowd. Nothing came of it that day but a month or two past and he happened to pop up on my Facebook so I hit the add button! moments later i got a message from him. We chatted a lot, and bonded over our mutual love for the beach and the outdoors. Our first dates consisted of a lot of ocean swims and lots of fish and chips! We used to lay in the back of Jed’s beloved ute at night watching the stars and listening to the waves crash.
GLL: Was it love at first sight or was it a slow burn kinda situation?
I wouldn’t say that it was love at first sight. But after a few dates, I knew that I was in trouble. I fell in love with Jed very quickly. We dated for four months before we said the L word, he actually said it on the same night that he asked me to be his girlfriend, and I was very quick to reply with an I love you too. Shortly into our relationship I fell pregnant with our now two year old son, Jack William. Falling pregnant was definitely not apart of our plan, but Jeds’ calm approach to the news made me fall even more in love with him. He is a wonderful father and seeing the bond that they share makes me heart so so happy.
GLL: What first attracted you to your partner?
There’s so many things that attracted me to Jed, obviously he’s very handsome! So that was the first thing that drew me in. I fell in love with his chilled out and relaxed personality. He’s from a small coastal town, and his personality really reflects that, it’s what I really love about him, even though sometimes I wish he would move a little faster haha!
GLL: And the proposal? How did that go down?
The proposal was very simple, very us! I was busily trying to get ready to go out to dinner and was trying to hurry Jed along as we were late. I was on my way to grab my perfume when he just got down on one knee and popped the question. To be honest, I don’t even really remember what he said to me, all I remember is that my heart was going a million miles an hour and we both had tears in our eyes. It was so magical and I will always cherish that moment.
GLL: How did you feel on your day and how did you style your GLL look?
Surprisingly I wasn’t that nervous on the day at all. I had a very chilled out day drinking wine, laughing and getting ready with my beautiful bridesmaids and my family. My nerves did kick in a little once it was time to put on the dress. But as soon as i was in the car with my Dad, excitement replaced my nerves. The Harriet really just does all the talking, I loved the simplicity of the dress and didn’t want to take away from that by adding too much to my look. I didn’t wear much jewellery, just my engagement ring and a sapphire ring for my something blue. I had my grandmother’s opal bracelet wrapped around my bouquet with my great nana’s ring attached to it. it was really important for me to have those cherished items close by on my special day.
GLL: Where did you get inspiration from for your wedding?
I used Pinterest a lot to get some ideas on styling for my wedding. I styled the reception myself so I researched inspiration on both the Internet and lots of magazines. It was hard not being able to see everything together as a whole, so I had to back myself a lot and not second guess myself, otherwise I would’ve gone mad. I made a lot of quick decisions, giving that I planned it all in three months. It all came together perfectly, I loved it and wouldn’t change a thing if i was to do it again.
GLL: Describe your wedding in 3 words…
This is the toughest question!! If I had to sum it up …. Magical, Romantic and Fun!!
GLL: What was your most memorable moment?
It would have to be when I was walking up the aisle. I was completely focused on Jed, I couldn’t hear the music and my peripheral vision didn’t seem to exist. I was hanging on to my Dad so tight and I’ve never felt more content in my life.
GLL: What was your wedding song / playlist?
We had an acoustic singer at our reception, which I think was one of my favourite things about the wedding. He sang everything, from Angus and Julia Stone, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper to Bruce Springsteen, REM and Fleetwood Mac. He set the exact vibe that we were after and did an amazing cover of ‘Joy Of My Life’ by John Fogerty, which was our first dance song. I walked down the aisle to ‘Bella’ by Angus and Julia Stone. Once he was finished for the night my cousin DJ’d and played a lot of fun dance music.
GLL: And where are you honeymooning?
We took off with our son in tow to a little coastal town called Agnes Waters, which we visit often. We love it there and it’s like our second home. We are heading to Montville in December without our son, so we are calling that our official honeymoon.
GLL: What did you find the easiest and hardest thing about planning a wedding?
The easiest was definitely finding the dress. As soon as I was engaged I was on the phone organising with the customer service team when I could come to the showroom to pick my dress. I didn’t go anywhere else and I tried on four GLL dresses. I was in and out within an hour. The hardest thing was trying to organise all the different elements of the wedding to fit together style wise. I didn’t see most things until it was all set up in mum and dad’s backyard the day before the wedding. Thankfully it all was perfect.
GLL: Any top tips or advice you can give fellow GLL brides (beauty, health & wellness, planning etc)?
Don’t stress. Everything will come together, and your day will be perfect none the less. It really helps to be organised and to write every detail down. I kept a book with all the time schedules, budgets and lists for the day. I had a list for everything!!
GLL: Describe your GLL experience…
Beyond amazing.. my stylist Bec made the experience really memorable. She was so helpful! The showroom was beautiful and everything i could have imagined. The Harriet is so amazing and I still find myself just staring at it in my cupboard. I wish I could wear it everyday!
GLL: What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage to me means giving your whole self to another person. It means building a life together, trusting one another and never giving up on each other.
