What is it you loved about your GLL gown and accessories?

The Verdelle 2.0 gown felt amazing on. It was breathable, but figure hugging. Comfortable, but sophisticated. When looking for a dress, I tried on dozens that were traditionally beautiful, but felt so heavy and uncomfortable. The second I put on the Verdelle 2.0, I was ready to walk down the aisle. It was an easy, effortless, and natural choice. I also loved that I didn’t have to stress about keeping it hung up or making sure it was steamed!

Did you go to a GLL showroom or purchase your gown online? Tell us about this experience.

I originally found GLL on Instagram and fell in love with the Inca dress. For as long as I could remember, I was certain I wanted long sleeves and a low-cut back. After trying on dresses in New York, Atlanta, and Savannah, I was getting a little frustrated with the process. I’m a fairly laid-back person, and all of the dresses I was finding just felt like they were trying too hard. Two of my best friends and I happened to be taking a girls trip out to LA, and I remembered the GLL showroom there had just opened. I made an appointment, and we were greeted by almond champagne (a new discovery for us!) and the sweetest stylist Bec. It blew all my other dress fittings away. I walked away with the Verdelle 2.0, as well as the Jade top and Saint silk pants for my rehearsal dinner (which I would have also happily gotten married in).

Describe your wedding day look…

It was important to me that I felt like myself the day of. I grew up at the beach, so I wanted a bronze, glowy look to accent the rest of our summer wedding weekend. One of my best friends and bridesmaids graciously did my loose beachy waves, and was kind enough to correct any loose hairs as we partied through the night. I felt like the happiest, beachiest version of myself.

How did he propose?

Jeremy and I were in Amsterdam (his favorite city) with 6 of our close friends. Jeremy’s birthday was the following day, so we were planning to start celebrating at midnight. One of his best friends was insistent I surprise him with a cupcake and candle right at the stroke of midnight. In retrospect I remember thinking “wow, his friends are being so nice for his birthday”. They were so excited for the surprise that I was totally oblivious to. So over the Binnen Brouwersstraat canal we all sang Happy Birthday at midnight. Jeremy blew out his candle, and said “here’s hoping birthday wishes come true..” as he got down on one knee and proposed. We spent the rest of night drinking champagne and riding bicycles through the canals.

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

It was most important to us that everyone have fun and enjoy themselves. We really just wanted an easy wedding that felt like a celebration. Guests never really remember what the bride’s flowers look like or what flavour the cake was, so we wanted guests to look back and just say “Man, THAT was a fun wedding.”

The funniest moments on the day were…

Oh this is an easy one. At the very end of the night, the band announced they’d play one more song over their speakers. Out of nowhere, the dance floor cleared and I was shuffled into a chair right in the middle of everyone. The first few beats of “Pony” by Ginuwine blared and Jeremy surprised me with a hilarious Magic Mike style serenade. Apparently he didn’t even plan it, my bridesmaids were the ones that set the whole thing in motion. It was completely unexpected and one of my favourite parts to look back on and die of laughter.

What was the most stressful part to planning?

Trying to please everyone, for sure. Everyone has an opinion, but luckily I was able to let that go the closer we got to the wedding and make sure we made decisions that ultimately we wanted.

Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…

Definitely don’t switch up your beauty routine right before the wedding. Do what you know makes your skin and body happy, and you’ll reap the benefits just the same.

A GLL woman is to you…

Fun, effortless, and unique.

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…

Do your wedding your way. It’s a party you get to throw with your favorite people that showcase who you and your partner are. I walked down the aisle to an acoustic Radiohead cover, and surprised my husband with the trumpet solo of an Outkast song for our recessional. It was personal for us, so it felt personal for our guests too. Also, set a time limit for trying to say hello to everyone. Once it’s up, get your butt to the bar and on the dance floor!
