How did you decide on your GLL gown and accessories?
I had seen the Verdelle dress on Instagram and knew it was me! I didn’t try it on (or any other dress for that matter) and when it arrived I fell in love with it.
Describe your look in three words…
Relaxed / natural / unique.
How did he propose?
Jimmy had suggested we get up and watch the sunrise from a rock that overhangs on the headland at Freshwater Beach where I lived. He told me to wear activewear (he knew I would probably just wear my pjs – so it was the best way of saying “wear something nice” without giving it away) Jimmy regularly joked about proposing and this morning was no different. Except straight after he got on one knee (attempted, we were sitting already) and asked me to marry him. We spent the day seeing family and went for two surfs (2hrs each) so we were wrecked by the night! Was like a birthday I didn’t know was coming. Such a good day.
What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?
Creating our covenant in front of friends, family and our Heavenly Father. We wanted the wedding to be predominately about that, back to the roots of marriage and for everyone to just have a great time together!
The funniest moments on the day were…
My entrance. I had a long veil and it kept getting caught on the church’s sandstone steps. (Lets just say it wasn’t the most graceful entry!) but these are the things you look back and laugh on.
What was the most stressful part to planning?
To be honest, I don’t think stress really ever hit. Everything fell into place, we had the wedding planned within 2 weeks of getting engaged! From day one of planning I decided not to forget the true reason behind getting married and things just exceeded my expectations from there!
Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…
Just relax. I think that’s a huge part in not letting yourself become overwhelmed with the process. Trying to get as many early nights in the lead up as possible too!
A GLL woman is to you…
Someone who wants to be different. Relaxed, easy going and confident in wearing something not ultra traditional.
Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…
Have fun and enjoy every moment of prep and the day! The day races past so quickly! One massive thing I would recommend is getting a video. We were so happy with our decision, being able to sit back and watch parts of the day you couldn’t see. Here is the link to our video.
