Justin + Johanna in the Gisele

A rustic, bohemian wedding, featuring our original Gisele gown.

How did you decide on your GLL gown and accessories?

I had being looking at wedding gowns for years. I loved imagining my big day and always wanted a white lace dress. I was always looking for inspiration online and one day came across Grace Loves Lace and I knew I had to have one. I’ve always had an obsession for backless dresses so when I found the Gisele dress I knew it was the one. I paired my dress with nude heels from Wanted and moonstone earrings and a silver hand- ring piece from Samantha Wills.

Describe your look in three words…

Boho, unique and elegant.

How did he propose?

Justin proposed to me on Christmas Day 2015. He made a wooden jewellery box in high school and placed the ring inside it.

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

I wanted our wedding to be personal and be exactly us! This showed through all our DIY projects – the swing, benches, dreamcatcher wall, arch and coasters.

The funniest moments on the day were…

My veil almost flying into the lake, Justin caught it just in time and thought he would wear it, let’s just say we got some pretty funny photos. Also we had one of our good friends singing at our reception and he got everyone up and dancing to my milkshake, even the oldies, it was very funny and got everyone up and having a great time.

What was the most stressful part to planning?

Probably trying to get all the vendors we wanted all for the same date. We had 4 dates in mind but knew we wanted an October wedding, with only 9 months to plan from our engagement, we knew we had to be quick to lock in things or we would miss out. So we picked out the vendors first we knew had to be apart of our special day and locked in our date. Magically every vendor we wanted could do October the 8th and most it was there only date left free.

Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…

I just kept up with my usual fitness routine of 2 swims a week and 3 walks a week to keep in shape. My beauty routine I didn’t change too much either, I just made sure I had a good facial moisturiser and a good shampoo, conditioner and treatment to keep my hair healthy which worked great. Health wise I just suggest to drink lots of water and on the day make sure you eat before the ceremony as it will be a few hours with the ceremony and photos until the reception.

A GLL woman is to you…

Confident, unique and effortless.

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…

Enjoy every moment and the week leading up. We had a lot of work to do in the lead up as we did everything ourselves, with the help of our family. Things will go wrong and that’s ok, you’ll look back and laugh. All that really matters is you have each other and you enjoy your day together and cherish every moment. Don’t forget its your day and try and spend some time alone together to take everything in.
