Lucas + Alexa in the Cyd

A romantic garden wedding in California, featuring our Cyd set.

How did you decide on your GLL gown and accessories?

I had been obsessed with Grace Loves Lace since before we were ever engaged + before they opened their showroom in LA. I stumbled across their designs on Pinterest, and I immediately fell in love with how dreamy their dresses were. They were totally my style. It seemed too good to be true that right around the time we got engaged Grace Loves Lace opened up their Abbot Kinney Showroom. Prior to my appointment I absolutely fell in love with The Cyd two piece and was eager to try it on. Once I entered the Abbot Kinney Showroom I was in awe with its beautiful aesthetic and my Stylist Meagan was such a sweet heart. The Cyd was the first dress I asked to try on and my heart melted. I had my mother and my soon to be mother-in-law with me and the three of us were all like “omg this is the one” as my eyes filled with happy tears. It was evident to me that this dress was made for me. The Chase Silk choker was the absolute best choice to complement the Cyd Set it added major sass. We sealed my choices with a glass of champagne.

Describe your look in three words…

Natural, Unique, Free – spirited.

How did he propose?

It was a regular Saturday and Luke wanted to take me out for a beach day! We headed to Crescent Bay Beach in Laguna (one of our favourite spots in the world). When we parked he opened the truck to get out our beach stuff and there was a picnic basket sitting back there, he looked at me with a huge grin on his face. I still didn’t know what was going on. We inhaled our food at Crescent Bay Point Park and as soon as we were done we went for a walk around the park Overlooking the ocean, on a cliff, he got down on one knee. From that moment he got down, I blacked out. I can’t remember exactly what he said (gushy stuff) but I said yes before he even finished or I saw the ring (Luke told me this fact) and I immediately jumped on him crying. I couldn’t believe the fact that I had fallen for my best friend and now would be marrying him!! We spent the rest of the day on the beach, then we headed back to the car where we called our parents & I could not stop crying happy tears. As we finished our calls, he told me he made us dinner reservations. We changed in the car and headed to a romantic, unforgettable dinner filled with yummy Italian food and celebratory champagne. The whole day was magical and so full of love!

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

The most important aspect was to have our family and our closest friends celebrate our love with us. Luke is my best friend, we have been best friends for 13 years and together as a couple for 4. Our goal was to have our wedding radiate our personalities, to truly embody us as a couple along with the spiritual roots of marriage, committing our lives to one another in the presence of our heavenly father.

The funniest moments on the day were…

When I was placing Luke’s ring on his finger and it wouldn’t go over his knuckle we immediately began to laugh along with our pastor and guests. It was a candid moment for sure and the ring eventually went on.

What was the most stressful part to planning?

We did everything ourselves it took a lot of work but what we created was more then we ever could have imagined. Getting everything in place and remembering not to forget anything was stressful but we had each other to lean on and we had tons of help from our parents and for that we are forever grateful.
