How did you decide on your GLL gown and accessories?

I was always going to be an Inca girl! Sleeves and a high neckline were essential, and the lace pattern is exquisite.

Describe your look in three words…

Feminine, windswept, wild!

How did he propose?

I did! We have been together 9 years, and had been planning this trip for a while. I knew Maurice was not inspired by the prospect of a formal wedding and all that entailed – making intimate promises into a PA system in front of 200 people and performing an awkward choreographed dance. I proposed we roll an elopement into our trip instead, and 48 hours later, all the details were organised.

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

We had only one desire – for our marriage ceremony to be entirely focused on each other!

The funniest moments on the day were…

Saying numerous times, ‘One day we’ll look back on this and laugh.’ In my event planning efficiency, I overlooked that summer in Morocco is on the warm side. There was also a heat wave, so our wedding day was a crackling 44 degrees! And that was at 8pm, when we were just leaving the medina. Look closely and see that Maurice and I are very, very sweaty haha!

What was the most stressful part to planning?

With our plane tickets for our holiday already purchased, we decided to elope one month before we were due to leave. I woke up the next day and panicked quietly, thinking I hadn’t left enough time to get it all together.

At home I had spent 2 days planning and locking in the big things – finding the right AirBnB, the perfect ring, the photographers (it had to be Chris & Ruth – we would have done it any day and anywhere in North Africa or Europe to have them) and of course, the dress! Inca was the very idea of love at first sight.

Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…

Beauty: Razor your face! This is a weird and wonderful one. Makes a huge difference to smoothness of makeup and eliminates all the tiny hairs that show up in photos. Do this the evening before and apply a thick layer of the best moisturiser you can get your hands on. You won’t believe how amazing your skin feels.

Health: Nothing like being in a muslim country to stop you drinking too much champagne. On the upside – brighter skin and no dark circles under your eyes :)

Fitness: Don’t eat bread or drink beer for 48 hours before getting in the dress. And obviously the fitter you are, the better you’re going to look.

A GLL woman is to you…

She is life itself, wild and free.

(You wrote this on an Instagram post and I absolutely loved it)

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…

Your wedding day is really your only chance to be wildly selfish and no one can criticise you for it. Be clear in what you and your fiancé want, and eliminate anything that will cause you unhappiness or stress. I’ve seen so many women completely consumed by details from their event and the joy of the moment is lost for them. If you’re crying because the napkins are the wrong shade of beige, you’ve gone too deep!
