How did you decide on your GLL gown and accessories?

I fell in love with the entire Grace Loves Lace collection on Instagram. The effortless, feminine, boho style was everything I wanted so I booked an appointment at the Gold Coast showroom. Initially I had my eyes on the Hollie 2.0 or Lottie but tried on a range of dresses just to make sure. The moment I tried the Alexandra dress I knew it was special… dad teared up as soon as he walked in, and that was it.

Describe your look in three words

Simple, romantic & feminine…

How did he propose?

We spent 2012 travelling the world and for a few months we lived in a van whilst driving around Europe. Mitch ended up proposing in Grindelwald during a hike up in the Swiss Alps. I was completely shocked but it was the best surprise ever! We upgraded our accommodation from the backpacking van life to something a little nicer and ended up in a gorgeous hotel room with champagne, chocolates and roses with stunning views of Mount Eiger. A few months later we announced our engagement to family & friends (& the rest of the world) on live TV from Times Square, New York. We had been together for 7 years when he proposed and engaged for 4 years after that. So we’ve had a long, adventurous 11-year history together and the Santorini wedding in April of 2016 was the perfect start to our new chapter.

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

Our goal was to celebrate ‘us’ and create an unforgettable memory that we would cherish forever. We wanted a small and intimate wedding with a relaxed vibe full of laughter and love. We both have a love for travel which naturally led us to the idea of an overseas elopement. We explored numerous options about where to exchange vows; Fiji, Tahiti, Hawaii, but nothing ever clicked. Finally, four years later, the Greek Islands became part of our next European adventure. We quickly fell in love with Santorini’s white washed Caldera cliffside, the maze of winding cobbled paths, the beautiful sunsets & breathtaking views of the Aegean sea. Santorini is an absolute paradise with the perfect blend of romance & adventure. Our wedding was everything we could have dreamed of and easily the best day of our lives.

The funniest moments on the day were…

Oh gosh…not sure whether it was me trying to walk up and down a rock cliff in heels…our celebrants accent & tone during the ceremony, the speeches or our dancing at the end of the night.

What was the most stressful part to planning?

Planning a wedding abroad was never going to be easy but it was all worth it. Time differences, language barriers and an unknown island made for an interesting wedding prep. We had never been to the Greek Islands before and so picking a venue and deciding on all the details was difficult. We really just had to trust our wedding planners and have faith that they could create our vision.

Any top beauty/health/fitness or wedding preparation advice that you can share…

Start early with regular exercise and lots of water!! Just aim to move and sweat everyday doing whatever you want. Fasted morning walks and afternoon interval sprint sessions or a weights session were my favourites.

A GLL woman is to you…

Confident, care-free & in love.

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…

Not everything will go to plan but it is your reaction that will determine how much it will impact on your day. I’m a typical perfectionist when it comes to most things in life, however, I was determined to not let the anything ruin our day. Numerous things went wrong and we didn’t have a reception venue booked until the day before but everything worked out fine. We took a stroll around town and found a few places with beautiful views and a restaurant ended up reserving their large balcony just for us. I’m still in shock with how everything just fell together so perfectly. We can now look back and laugh at how imperfectly perfect our day was.
