GLL: Congratulations on your recent wedding, you looked stunning! Tell us how and why you chose your GLL gown?
I found GLL via Instagram and fell in love with your gowns. The only issue was you are/were located in Australia at the time, I am in San Diego, Ca. I tried other dresses on, but everything seemed too traditional, too structured. When I heard your company was going to be in Venice, I jumped on the opportunity to get an appointment. When I put the Genevieve dress on I knew it was the one. It is romantic and free, exactly what I was looking for.
GLL: So tell us, how did you both meet?
We met through friends. I was out with co-workers and needed rescuing. My friends pulled up in a taxi, Nathan was in the front seat. We spent the entire night talking over drinks at our local dive. A day or so later, he found me via Facebook, asked for my number, and to take me on a date. The rest is history.
GLL: Was it love at first sight or was it a slow burn kinda situation?
A little of both. The attraction was definitely there. But we took it slow for a while.
GLL: What first attracted you to your partner?
His smile. Then his mind. He is crazy smart. Strong, yet gentle. And always up for anything.
GLL: And the proposal? How did that go down?
It was just the three of us… Nathan, Missy (our little love dog), and I. He took us to the beach where we used to walk when we first started dating. It was perfect. Not a soul in site besides the three of us. He called our dog over, said he had something very important to ask me and got down on his knee. I said YES! Of course. We went to Swami’s Cafe for breakfast and had celebratory mimosas.
GLL: How did you feel on your day and how did you style your GLL look?
I felt beautiful and so comfortable on my wedding day. I styled my GLL look with wedge heels and a BLDN beaded belt. I kept my jewellery minimal, wearing my mother-in-law’s pearl bracelet and pearl drop earrings my husband bought as a gift.
GLL: Where did you get inspiration from for your wedding?
I knew I wanted a rustic/boho feel to the day. I found an inspiration photo for our flowers and head table on Pinterest. But our Florist was the star of the show. Meeting with her and hearing her ideas really pulled our whole vision together.
GLL: Describe your wedding in 3 words…
Laid-back, beautiful, and fun!
GLL: What was your most memorable moment?
After the ceremony, as husband and wife, we took 10 minutes to enjoy a glass of champagne together. Completely alone. It was great to have that few minutes just the two of us before photographers, coordinators, and family wanted our attention.
GLL: What was your wedding song / playlist?
Our very talented Brazilian friend, Marcio, played the acoustics of Heaven’s Knife by Josh Garrels while i walked down the aisle with my dad. For the wedding party he played his favourite boc instrumental. Our grand entrance to the reception was to “You are the Best Thing” by Ray Lamontagne. Our first dance was to Tennessee Whiskey. Other bands we played were Hurray for the Riff Raff, Leon Bridges, and The Lumineers. We dig those folky jams!
GLL: Tell us about the food, most importantly the cake…
Tacos! And the best around! We wanted something that everyone would enjoy. And who doest like tacos? Our dessert bar and cake was done by VG Bakery.
GLL: And where are you honeymooning?
Bocas Del Toro, Panama. We stayed at Island Plantation Resort in Bocas. It was beyond what we expected.
GLL: What did you find the easiest and hardest thing about planning a wedding?
Finding our vendors was easy. Everyone was so great to work with. I just didn’t like doing the logistical part of things, confirming vendor times, timelines, etc.
GLL: Any top tips or advice you can give fellow GLL brides (beauty, health & wellness, planning etc)?
Don’t be afraid to start planning early. My husband and I did almost everything big well in advance. It makes it so much more enjoyable if you can take your time with it. Don’t stress too much, it will all come together in the end. And remember, the most important thing is that you are married at the end of the day!
GLL: Describe your GLL experience…
Couldn’t have been any better. Bec greeted us with Champagne and a cheese board. My two maids and were shown to a cozy room at the Rose Hotel in Venice beach. There I tried on a few other gowns and ended with the Genevieve. I didn’t want to take it off, and that when i knew this was the dress for me.
GLL: What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage to me is a blessing & privilege. It means to support and encourage each other and to love unconditionally. To promise one another to never give up on our story. To go through life’s adventures and hardships by each other’s side. I feel so lucky that I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
