GLL: Congratulations on your recent wedding, you looked stunning! Tell us how and why you chose your GLL gown?
My sister was shopping for her wedding dress (she bought the Tara for her wedding in March this year). Originally, I was coming along to help her choose a GLL gown and then Nick proposed so I ended up looking for a dress myself! I had been looking at the website with her and had always loved the Alexandra gown. I like that it shows off a bit of skin, yet it’s still elegant. The Alexandra was the first wedding dress I tried on- it was a relief that it fitted me perfectly because I had loved it so much in all of the photos.
GLL: So tell us, how did you both meet?
We met five years ago through a mutual friend – Henry’s work farewell drinks. Henry and I worked together and Nick stopped by to have a beer with him.
GLL: Was it love at first sight or was it a slow burn kinda situation?
When I was first introduced to Nick, I thought he was a German exchange student as he had a scarf and glasses on and was very quiet! By the end of the night we exchanged numbers. I soon realised that Nick was in fact not the quiet reserved German I initially thought and accepted his invitation to go and have a drink with him.
GLL: What first attracted you to your partner?
His cool, calm nature and good looks!
GLL: And the proposal? How did that go down?
It was a week after my birthday. Nick took me away for a romantic weekend at Mount Hay in Berry and he proposed on 7 mile beach.
GLL: How did you feel on your day and how did you style your GLL look?
My dress was so comfortable – which was a big tick for me! Even though the dress is tight fitted, I didn’t feel self-conscious because the stretchy lace is so forgiving. I was worried I would feel restricted and that the dress would be hard to walk in. This was not the case at all – it was so easy to move around and dance in. I wanted a natural look and wore my hair out. I wore grey suede shoes by Jeffrey Campbell.
GLL: Where did you get inspiration from for your wedding?
My sister and sister in law had the most beautiful weddings this year so I got a lot of advice from them. My mum was a huge help, she could be a wedding planner – thanks mum!
GLL: Describe your wedding in 3 words…
Happy, fun, amazing.
GLL: What was your most memorable moment?
Walking to Nick down the aisle.
GLL: What was your wedding song / playlist?
Shine by Benjamin Francis Leftwich (aisle song)
Lady Love me by George Benson (first dance).
GLL: Tell us about the food, most importantly the cake…
The Oyster Girls and cheeseboards by Dan the Man Cooking at our ceremony were a big hit. The food at Aqua Dining was exceptional – it’s one of my favourite restaurants. The cake was a two-tier butter cake with white fondant icing. It looked beautiful – thanks mum for organising.
GLL: And where are you honeymooning?
Hayman Island One and Only.
GLL: What did you find the easiest and hardest thing about planning a wedding?
Easiest thing was finding a dress. The hardest thing was trying not to be a nag to Nick with the organising.
GLL: Any top tips or advice you can give fellow GLL brides (beauty, health & wellness, planning etc)?
Enjoy every moment.
GLL: Describe your GLL experience…
My sister, mum and aunty all enjoyed going to the GLL showroom. We had so much fun looking at all the beautiful gowns. The GLL team was very helpful and friendly. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful dress.
GLL: What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage means having a lifetime of happiness with someone you love so much.
Shop the Alexandra gown.
