Nick + Xiaoxi in the Gia gown

An elegant Palm Springs wedding featuring our Gia gown.

How did you decide on your GLL gown and accessories?

I was having a difficult time finding a dress that I felt completely comfortable in. Every dress felt as though it had to be significantly altered to fit me or was too complicated to wear. It was very important for me to have a dress that not only made me feel beautiful, but also totally relaxed on the big day.

I loved my dress not only because of its beautiful design and comfort, but also because it felt made to fit my body perfectly – no alterations necessary! The dress let me have fun and focus on what was most important on our wedding day – us!

Describe your look in three words…

 Simple, modern & elegant.

How did he propose?

Nick knows how important my family and culture are to me. Last year we traveled back to my hometown in China. After failing to get a moment alone with me all day, he convinced me to take an evening stroll through my grandparents’ garden on Chinese New Year. Under the stars, he got down on one knee and popped the question while people celebrating the new year lit fireworks in celebration.

What was your goal for your wedding / what was the most important aspect to you?

I really wanted to keep things simple and enjoy the moment. Our focus was on making sure our family and friends had a good time, rather than making everything look perfect. On the day of, it was most important for us to make sure we spent as much of the night together as we could, and that everybody felt comfortable enough to let loose and have fun.

The funniest moments on the day were…

My family is from China and Nick’s family is from the western United States. Watching our completely opposite families come together to celebrate us and seeing the different cultures collide was hilarious and heartwarming.

What was the most stressful part to planning?

Our wedding was very DIY and we had to bring in all our vendors. It was a lot to coordinate and we had to make so many decisions. Luckily we were fortunate to have such supportive family, friends, and of course our amazing wedding planner to help us along the way.
